White appliances are hard to find. When I found this little toaster that was exactly the size and color we wanted and had over 6,000 4+ reviews, I was very happy. This happiness didn't last long. The first thing I noticed was that the door wouldn't open all the way. Also, the fuselage appeared to be slightly curved (not by the part that slides into the side rails) but by the body. It still fit in the oven, but it didn't seem right. The brochure said "first time only", set the oven to 450Β° for 15 minutes to burn off any residual oil, etc. There was a click for the entire 15 minutes, followed by a dimming of the elements, another click and the elements lit up again . If it had to happen I think it would have been mentioned in the brochure so people wouldn't wonder if it's okay. Based on my experience with other toasters, I don't think this is normal. So I contacted Midea, the parent company I believe, and spoke to a nice person who tried to help but ended up only "guessing" that it was ok. Not satisfied I contacted Revain support through their messages. First he said that the power supply could be the reason the oven isn't turning on properly. He told me to plug the oven into a different outlet and repeat the 15 minute procedure. Before I did, I mentioned that our other toaster, also a 1000W, never had a problem turning on or dimming. Then I went into the kitchen and plugged the oven into a different outlet. The same thing happened. After 15 minutes I came back and saw that he replied and said that there was no need to check it because he would request a replacement for me. After some discussion I decided that I simply didn't need a replacement for this oven and decided to return it instead. UPS will pick it up on Monday. Let me just say that the shipping box that the oven came in was in excellent condition and the oven was wrapped in thick foam on the sides. Problems, door not opening fully, bent luggage rack and clicking/blackout are not delivery related. The problem is where it's made. I'm annoyed and a little annoyed that I have to start looking for a reliable and safe toaster again. (Are there any?) On the other hand, that's how I see it, especially now with Covid and what's going on in the country: it's a bit awkward. There will be no peace if I have to butter my bread after toasting. As my mother used to say, "this should be your biggest problem".
