Provides an additional step in disinfecting your mouthguard but should not be the main step.

When you consider how long your mouthguard will stay in your mouth while you sleep (hopefully around 8 hours), it's important to give it a thorough cleaning before next use. My dentist recommended that I wear a protective night splint because I grind my teeth when I sleep. thanks work! The only thing worse than wearing a face mask all night is having to take care of it the next day. Soaking it in water is pretty gross for anyone you live with. and bad for the general care of the guard. Mouthwash is also not suitable for lifting or soaking a mouth guard or braces as it will destroy plastic or rubber. Every morning I rinse the face mask in the sink and then leave it on the counter to try it on. It's a bit unsightly, but sometimes I can tell that despite a good rinse, some germs or bacteria can linger on the guard and I cringe when it returns to my mouth. When I saw a case with a UV lamp to add another layer of disinfectant I immediately ordered it. UV radiation (light) is a known inhibitor of bacterial growth. It also fights viruses where it renders them ineffective, which is why many companies are installing UV lamps in their air ducts to help remove viruses from the circulating air during a pandemic. UV light is harmful to your eyes or skin when exposed directly, but if you do so it should be harmless to you. I can't find any research on the level of ultraviolet radiation required to kill bacteria and decontaminate viruses. Was there enough light in that suitcase to really take your guard off? Nobody knows, but there is no harm in exposing it to UV (light) rays. He has a good design. maybe a little more than necessary. It's still small enough to easily fit in your luggage, pocket, or purse. It is very light and weighs almost nothing. At first I was disappointed with how cheap it felt. But after several uses I liked it better. The case snaps into place and stays closed. You can see a faint little purple ring when the light is on and the case is closed. The light does not work when the case is open. This device charges with the included USB cable, but does not have an outlet. It takes a full 2 hours to charge and the light cycle is 2 minutes. I can usually live about a week and replace it before charging. The worst is the cleaning. When it comes to water, the instruction manual is as scary as a bursting pit bull. The operating instructions repeatedly and unequivocally point out not to bring the device into contact with water. Considering you're putting on a somewhat dirty mouthguard here, someone might want to give it a bit of a wipe. In terms of using it as the only line of defense against germs and bacteria. I would not. It's a nice addition to washing or brushing, but I wouldn't rely on it alone to clean my mouthguard that's been in my mouth all night. I wash my mouthguard with hot water in the morning and let it dry and then do a 2 minute cycle in the case at night to make sure I'm hygienic. I wonder if you have to do both sides. It says 360 degree disinfection but when one end touches the bottom shell I can't believe it can be 100% affected by UV light. I usually place the dental impressions against the light because that's probably the dirtiest side. Overall, I can't prove it works, but I can say it gives me peace of mind that it's another step in protection. Science says it works. so i will trust I would probably prefer it if it was black as it will be around bathrooms and water most of the time. As it's very easy to use, portable and hygienic I'm glad I ordered this item and for the price I'd say it's good value for money as I don't see them often. I suspect it won't be long before it needs to be replaced, but it seems pretty well made, if not a little flimsy. Note. I'm not sure which 2 blue hooks it came with and I probably won't use the velvet pouch it came with.
