Review on Shovel Knight Amiibo - Nintendo Wii U/3DS Edition by Jeremy Carpenter

My 9 year old and I played Shovel Knight - Wii U together. It's a lot of fun and I wish there were more co-op platformers like this one. With amiibo, you can make the first or second player a "custom knight," where your moves are unlocked based on the amount of money you collect, rather than the upgrades you normally get. Information about your character is stored in the amiibo. Attachment is drop-in style, but can only be done between layers. There are many additional relics and moves from the Plague of Shadows expansion. My favorite part is the fun cosmetic costumes with over 50 color palettes and other tricks to unlock. Apparently you can have both players as a custom knight with two amiibo (!), although I haven't tried that. Other reviews have said the amiibo was badly colored, but mine looks great.
