I've had this lantern for over a year and it would get 4-5 stars in the first month. and then a few more months passed. Good Qualities: I'm a commercial electrician so when I'm working there's metal all around me and the magnet is STRONG. I've actually used it quite a bit by strapping it to my bag and I just add extra hardware/screws and such to make it easily accessible, very nice. The light is bright, unregulated, but I've had no reason to regulate it. The side work light isn't very bright, but it's perfect for illuminating the inside of the plate or box you're standing in front of. that makes me feel bad. Cons: The STRONG magnet is on the back, as is the power button. It wasn't a problem at first, but after a month or two the button became more responsive and happily toggled the mode off or toggled every time I applied a magnet to something. The pocket clip also has an unusual design. It's beautiful, but made of brittle metal, open at one end, and easy to remove. I can't even count the number of times I've walked down the stairs only to look up and see my flashlight pop out of my pocket and get stuck in a pipe or metal pole nearby. And finally, after a few more months of use, without extreme conviction, it stopped working altogether. Overall: if it can fail, you probably need a different light. If it doesn't, this might work just fine for you, at least for a while.
