Review on Klipsch Cinema Wireless Subwoofer HDMI ARC by Rob Bradford

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Setting new standards for entry-level soundbars

Experience. real sound. I've heard that the Klipsch Cinema 400 offers excellent value for money bass as it uses the largest (8 inch) subwoofer in its price range and Klipsch is widely known for its good upper midrange clarity. I'm glad I did as many of the other brands I've tried for the same price all had very unimpressive bass and much dirtier upper mids and highs. The Vizio V and M series 2.1 and 5.1 come closest in price and are even significantly cheaper, which is why they're the main comparison. The Klipsch Cinema 400 gets the Vizios out of the water. There was just no bass on the Vizios. I'm not a big bass player myself and I can live with weak bass, but the mids of the Vizio M and V series just sounded muddy and tight, like cheap $10 kid's on-ear headphones. Yes, you can Buy Vizio V51 cheaper and it will have surround and center channels but the clarity and soundstage make them more pleasing for music and will probably sound better in movies even though they are stereo only. Compared to the Yamaha ATS-2090 it still had it better clarity in the mids and highs, and much better bass from the larger subwoofer. The Bose Solo soundbar was close to the Klipsch in the mids and highs, but couldn't match the bass without a separate subwoofer. The same applies to Sonos Arc, LG SN7R 35 inch 5.1.2 and Samsung HWQ67CT 7.1. However, surround sound systems have a much better soundstage as they have 5 or 7 speakers and Dolby Atmos support. In conclusion I would recommend this in everything. anything else in its price range (under $200). The sound is much better than the Vizio, although the Vizio can include surround speakers. Klipsch has a much better sound for listening to music. The only downside is that it doesn't have surround sound, but the better sound quality is the compromise you get over the Vizio 5.1.

Pros
  • 5.1 decoding for virtualized surround sound
Cons
  • Out of fashion
