These items say they're indestructible, and one reviewer pointed out they weren't. In fact, they are not indestructible. However, this is a plus, not a disadvantage, in my opinion. These scratching posts are incredibly useful for cleaning pots and pans. That would make them useful if there was nothing else. But they dissolve. When this happens (and I personally prefer to use them when they start falling apart) it's MUCH easier to get into those corners where food builds up and is the hardest to clean. That's why I don't want to do without them in my kitchen anymore and their limited shelf life is NOT a problem. I pointed out that they are good in the garage too. Nothing cleans dirt like these things. Use them on tools, buckets or hands. When I paint or varnish wood, I wash my hands with dish soap and one of those scrapers. They work great.
