Review on Leviton SmartlockPro Weather Resistant Tamper Resistant Receptacle by Jim Velasco

Revainrating 1 out of 5

After a complicated and lengthy installation, the socket did not work at the first use.

The socket has a good GFCI WR rating. The instructions are clearly marked on the device which wires connect to which screws. In addition to the black and gold screws, it marks the load/line and hot/white wire connections. I replaced an old existing outlet and box with this one. Installation was particularly difficult, through no fault of that outlet. The wires were long enough to reach the screws with little effort, very difficult to move, and I found it very awkward to turn them 40F. Nevertheless, I disconnected the old socket, connected it in the same way and checked the markings for correctness. Everything super clear. There is a secondary downstream output that has also been connected. That was also clear, because the new socket had a sticker on it that said what the plugs were. I attached the pads and re-attached them to the house (seems a little premature) and then turned the power back on at the switch. I have a non-contact load tester and it confirmed that current is flowing through the wires all the way to the top. to the spout. The 3 pin tester I showed doesn't light up and the little LED on that WR socket doesn't light up. The TEST and RESET buttons do nothing for the GFCI, and they don't feel like they disable anything like a regular GFCI. I don't have a shot at another GFCI before things get bad. Very frustrating. I will disassemble and recheck the connections tomorrow but will probably go to HD to find another socket and return this one.
