What I liked about this little shelf was its size, perfect for the small space I had to work with. It could hold 18 pairs of shoes in my size 7. I put a pair of my husband's size 10 shoes on the shelf and they sag a bit and there is only one pair on the shelf. Makes a fairly robust impression after assembly. I used a rubber mallet and put on the gloves that came with it. What I didn't like was the assembly. Lots of pieces. It took my husband and I about 45 minutes because we took our time and tapped it gently. We built it from scratch and when I got to the top shelf I put on the end caps before attaching it. The top lids are so small I had to flip the shelf, leave the lids on the counter and slide them back into place.
