Review on ✈️ Rhode Island Novelty Flying Toy Assortment by Cornelius Reeves

Decorations, party favors, awards and other uses.

I bought these for my 6 year old as a little treat and something we can do/learn together. We opened up our first aircraft, a Curtiss P-40 Tomahawk, and posted some online videos of the actual aircraft and its connection to the Flying Tigers. So they can be fun and a little educational. The box I received contained 48 aircraft: Curtiss P-40 TomahawkFocke Wulf 190 A-4Mitsubishi ZeroType 4 Fighter HayateGrumman F6F HellcatHawker Hurricane MK. 11CNorth American Mustang MK2Thunderbolt F-47DAiracobra P-39Eockewulf TA 152HPiper Tri-PacerSpitfire MKI aircraft were evenly distributed among 4 aircraft of each type. Each plane is individually boxed and looks just like the ones I bought at the grocery store as a kid. The only difference I see is that these planes have a glossy styrofoam finish whereas mine when I was a kid was just white with ink stains. The planes are easy to assemble, and while the markings and appearance of the models aren't entirely authentic, there's enough of them to tell them apart. Airplanes hold together well and don't fly apart in the air. The wings and tail stayed in place, but had to be straightened from time to time in collisions with objects and the ground. Each plane comes with a plastic nose piece that screws into place. The propeller spins and will spin as it flies. However, this doesn't really help increase flight time, but the nose is necessary for the model to fly. I tried to fly it without the nose but it just became unstable and crashed quickly. As for flying, I tested it indoors and outdoors with mixed results. Outside, the plane wanted to take off straight, loop, and level for a glide landing. Inside, the plane started flying straighter. I also started making small adjustments to the nose and that changed the way it flew. Also throwing the plane over the shoulder and swinging it to the side of the body produced different results. As I played with them I thought it would be creative and fun to give to older teenagers in the classroom to see how they can modify airplanes to achieve the longest flight times. This can be a good problem solving and community exercise with each group trying to modify/change their aircraft to get the best results. Airplanes are relatively inexpensive, but they can be used in a variety of ways, from decorations, party favors, awards to classroom assignments. They are easy to assemble, stick together fairly well, and fly with varying results after experimenting. They offer the opportunity to learn about the history of aviation with the little ones. My 6 year old has a hard time throwing it up so he can take off but still enjoys holding it and walking around in it. They definitely bring back memories. And now these little skydivers.
