Review on ⚡ Enhanced Xantrex PH-1800-GFP PowerHub: Optimize Your Power Generation by Paul Barnes

It's junk, just like the company

I bought my unit from Solutions from Science as part of a complete solar backup package. The full set cost me about $4,000. I've owned it for less than four years and it has proven to be completely unreliable. The first problem occurred to me after only a few months of use. It stopped working and I had to repackage it to return it. It was under warranty and didn't cost me anything, but the inconvenience factor was still there. Last summer I had intermittent power delivery issues. Then it finally crashed violently with a line of four dashes on the display. The warranty was expired and when I called Solutions from Science they explained it was a failed inverter which would cost me $929 plus shipping. Substitute. I told him to forget it, I'll take the $4,000 loss before I spend another grand. (And now I see Revain selling it for a little over $600. I don't get the whole scenario at all. But it doesn't matter because I don't spend that much either.) Well, right now I have a brilliant idea. Visit the Xantrex website to see if I can find any troubleshooting ideas. What do I see? Note that they don't publish schematics because they want to protect their intellectual property. If something goes wrong, you have to replace the entire unit because nobody can fix it. Bottom Line: Avoid Xantrex products like the plague.

Pros

Cons
  • A few little things
