I have both this and the later purchased Sony version. Most reviews focus on cost savings compared to what Sony is claiming for their version, and they're right. However, the value is subjective. So why is it worth 1/3 of Sony's grip? The Sony is made from higher quality materials, which shows in every aspect of the grip compared to this cheaper aftermarket version. Sony supports USB-C charging, which is very important to me. Why would I remove the batteries and put them in a dual charger when I can just plug in an available USB-C cable? On the other hand, optional accessories like L brackets support the Sony grip, but this grip does not. compatible. I don't understand why Meike chose a different location for the fastening screw. So why buy this version of Mike instead of the much better Sony version? only the price For some, the above points are crucial. For others, they do not incur any additional costs. Last note. I have had two Meike grips for my smaller Sony cameras in the past. Both failed. One broke off the lock's small curved tongue completely, and the other wouldn't turn on the camera. Both failed after a year of use. Again, Sony has gotten better. Your call.
