Review on Rocky Mountain Low Gaiters by Outdoor Research by Chris Brazington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works perfectly! But. best in gaiters

These things work great to protect my hiking boots from rocks/sand/debris. As many previous reviews have said, consider getting a small size instead of a large one. I took the advice and they fit my size 13 X-Wide hiking boots perfectly. If they were a little bigger I'm not sure they would work. I give them 5 starting points BUT there is a downside for me. I live in the Arizona desert and usually walk when the temperature is over 100 degrees. The first time I wore these leggings I walked 14 miles and the temp started at around 35 degrees and was over 100 by the time I finished. I had a blister on my little toe for the first time in years. When I took off my socks to put on the molehill and tape, I noticed my socks were soaked. This is not normal for me and the only explanation I can give is that the gaiters heat up my feet and don't allow air in or out of my hiking boots. When I got home and pulled both socks off my feet, they looked like I had soaked them in water for 6 hours. My specific heat issue aside, these gaiters are very well made and work as advertised. I would recommend them but be prepared for possible blisters when hiking in extreme heat.
