So I bought this stool for my son to use at the sink, mainly to wash his hands and brush his teeth. A family member had a similar stool that was very easy to open. When I received this product, which I chose based on the many positive reviews and what I thought was a fair price, I found it very difficult to open. . It's improved a lot, so I think it's just a matter of loosening up the plastic a bit. Also, the way the stool can be folded allows the top of the stool not to be opened and closed easily. That didn't stop my son from thinking that he actually turned it upside down and squeezed to open and latch the sides. Then he turns and climbs to the sink. As for strength, this thing is very durable. It holds over 200 pounds without creaking or flexing. In addition, the surface is quite non-slip, but can still be used barefoot. Overall I like this product. It is high quality, durable and looks very good. I keep it to myself.
