After using cheaper halogen bulbs for a while I gave these a try. A few big differences: Long lamp life. Cheaper brands will last for several months. This bulb looks a little different than other halogen bulbs of this size (although it fits the bulb well), with a thicker filament by the looks of it, which could explain the difference in bulb life. - No buzz! The problem with halogen lamps is that although they have a dimmer, the lamp is annoying when the dimmer is switched off. There is almost no buzz with this bulb, even when the lamp is almost off. (You can hear a slight hum if you're directly above the lamp, but if you move a few feet away you can't hear it.) Quality German engineering to win.
