I didn't see that the buckle is made of the plastic mentioned in the listing ("material: stainless steel" is all I saw in the materials). So I was disappointed when I received the collar and found that it has a plastic buckle as I have a Dobie who can pull like a sled dog if something catches his attention. I decided to keep it and give it a try as the price was reasonable and I bought a leash to match. I'm glad I kept it! I used the collar for a long weekend at a dog show and it worked great. The buckle looks very high quality and has retained its rigidity. I think this will work fine. The martingale chain slides easily and does not stick "badly" to the rings. The collar is wide enough that I don't feel like I'm putting too much strain on her neck when she pulls. Finally, unlike many martingale collars I've tried, she doesn't try to give it up.
