Our son has amblyopia and needs patches 4 hours a day. The first patch we used was from a set of free samples given to us by the doctor. They had a beige fabric base and the glue was terribly irritating to his skin. They were also very difficult to remove. The next type we tried was NexCare. They were paper backed, were much easier to remove, and didn't irritate his skin. When I went to the store for a new box, there was only the Curad brand. It's even better than NexCare. They are so much easier to take off that my son specifically asks what brand they are. NexCare sticks a little better, but since it doesn't scratch the edges, that's not a problem. Anyone who has trouble with irritating glue can try a light coat of Pepto Bismol or Calamine Lotion (NOT Caladryl). ---- Additional Note: We also had to start patching our daughter. Because she sweats more than her brother, Kurada's band-aids fell off. We've found Nexcare to stay in place for them, so now we have his and her brands of patches.
