That being said, at this price point, you could do worse. What really annoys me is that the photos of the shelves in this description are fake. They actually look like the advertised wood, when in fact they feel and look like cheap laminated chipboard. The low rating I've given this item is more to cheat and compensate for the bewildering good reviews. Also, I don't think the shelves will hold the advertised weight. For an additional $130 I could have bought a brand I knew and got reclaimed oak shelves, but I succumbed to the fake reviews. Other than that, this is a decent budget bookshelf that suits my needs. I have "real" bookshelves, but I wanted an inexpensive one that wouldn't catch the eye and would fit paperback monographs and the like. Serves its purpose and was pretty easy to put together. One person can do it, and someone in good enough shape should be able to position it where they want it, on their own. Laminate shelves that look very cheap ruin the overall picture. I think even at this price point there can be better options out there for you. I don't fret about the purchase like I used to, but in hindsight I wouldn't buy this item.
