Review on Buttkicker BK GR2 ButtKicker BK GR Gamer by Larry Sabey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

I love him and hate him at the same time. Turns off often.

Buttkickers add a whole new level of audio enjoyment. I mainly use my buttkicker for music, not games. In fact, one of the reasons I hate this product is that it can't handle racing games. The little butt kicker heats up and switches off after 15 minutes. At medium volume, it can hardly cope with music, but still breaks off after about 15 minutes. It can reproduce very, very low frequencies. In general, subwoofers that can handle frequencies below 20 Hz are considered expensive. I like to play bass guitar and listen to music with distinctive bass grooves on hi-fi systems. This butt kicker really adds to the enjoyment of the experience as it amplifies the kick and details the low bass frequencies. You can forget about using this for racing games, which is what I originally bought it for, but I'll leave this setup mainly for listening. to the music. If you love playing bass with two twelve speakers in your trunk, you'll love the Buttkicker bass converters. It really makes you feel like you're jamming with competitor subs in the trunk. For that reason, I'm currently eyeing the larger Buttkicker Concert series bass converter. The only problem is finding a 1400 watt amp to power it. So far the amps I've looked at have been very expensive which is kind of a deal breaker. However, the build quality of the Gamer 2 bass converter is really good. It looks like a solid piece of cast iron, powder coated with a nice shiny finish. The only problem is that it's a bit underpowered, but I see the potential in these bass drivers. I've used it in non-racing games like Snow Runner and American Truck Simulator. When I start the buttkicker I can feel the engine rumble at idle. It's pretty cool. Unfortunately, it cannot work at high volume for a long period of time due to an internal shutdown. All in all this is a great product. It's not perfect, but for $150 it's pretty good.

Pros
  • Love it so far
Cons
  • So far so good
