I've been using Tripplite Isobar Surge Protectors for 20 years and the first ones I bought still work! These are the most reliable surge protectors. They only fail when they take a direct hit, which protects your devices, but it fails instead of transferring the surge to your electronics (which isn't a "failure" in the BTW sense :) A direct hit would be a flash or a MASSIVE release that would normally destroy any device plugged into the wall. Cheap surge protectors can't handle a few normal spikes, but it's normal life for the Isobar series!
