This is a 12 strand cord. It's strong (didn't test the tensile strength on a scale) but it fits well and the endless loops and soft clips I made hold the hammock up well. The downside to this stuff is that if you just manipulate the rope with your hands or sync up a knot, you'll see the color fade in seconds. The red color quickly turned light pink. Don't worry about the color, but if you're concerned, look elsewhere.
