It feels solid and I like the fact that it's compact. I'm not sure whose brilliant idea it was to place the protective (and grippy) pads on the underside in a recess so they don't make secure contact with the underlying surface. Found this as soon as I installed the assembled block on my table and heard a horrible rattle. The end of the U bar scratched my desk as the pads were too thin for their placement. My table is permanent. Photo after trying to fill with stain remover. They were deep as the edge of the rod was very rough.
