A flash drive served as photo storage. The other was empty and worn. At one point I tried using the drive now called "disk2s2" as an external drive to host bootable OS X. I tried opening the Mac's boot drive layout instead of the default internal drive. which was broken at the time. Since then, however, I have not been able to make any progress in restoring his former abilities. The flash drives are not physically damaged as both have a red LED on the back of the USB case. They are also stored at room temperature. However, "disk2s2" is not properly deleted or mounted. I've repeatedly erased, done a "First Aid" and tried to mount the drive as well as recover from another working USB "32GB photos". However, the disc cannot be converted to another format when erasing (see screenshot of the error). Not sure if this is a USB or OS X issue (this should be cleared).
