Review on Denso PK20PR L13 Double Platinum Spark by John Fuentes

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Replaced Original Equipment 15 Year Old Spark Plugs (NGK PFR6L-13) 2000 Civic Si

These replace the original 15 year old spark plugs which were NGK PFR6L-13. They came with a preset gap of 0.050-0.051 inches, which is a spec of 0.052. After coating the spark plug terminals and new wire connectors (NGK 8018 HE64) with dielectric grease, I installed them and torqued them to the recommended 13 foot torque. Lb. Later, the car started immediately and drove smoothly. I took it for a test drive. I shifted gears, took it to the rev limiter several times (8k). No problems, misfires or anything out of the ordinary. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I haven't noticed any difference in performance between new plugs and cables versus 15 year old plugs and cables. A testament to how far quality, material and design control have come over the years. In the past, you might have had to remove and clean the spark plugs every 15,000 to 20,000 miles or so. Ironically, the Denso website does NOT recommend using an anti-seize compound. Supposedly this can lead to too much resistance when screwing in the fork. My previous NGK connectors showed no sign of anti-seize compound on the threads and I had no problem removing them after fifteen years of use.
