Overall this is a pretty good charger. I've had a few in the past that barely made it past 6 months. This version is faithful to the original in design and form, including the USB port in the case. I prefer to charge my phone as my Surface only has one other USB port. My only issue is that the light that comes on to let you know it's charging went out after just a few weeks. It's very annoying when it's not there. On several occasions I have found my Surface with a dead battery because the other end was disconnected or someone turned off the surge protection strap. When little things like that happen, I think it won't last as long as they say. .
