There is a simple test you can do to determine if an item is silk. Take a small piece of cloth and burn it. (I trimmed a small piece of seam allowance from the inside of the pillowcase. I then selected all the threads to make sure my pattern wasn't contaminated with other materials.) 100% real silk should smell like burnt hair and leave nothing but ash. When I burned a piece of this fabric, a small, hard rock remained. That tells me it's plastic, probably polyester. The pillowcase does not smell or feel like real silk either. This is a good imitation but not real. PURCHASE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
