The cap itself is rather sketchy. The springs on the cap latch are strong enough to hold the cap on the lens. The fit was perfect on my Canon EFS 18-135, both alone and with the UV filter installed. As for the holder, I had no problem pulling the cord through the small hole, then used a needle to grab it and pull it through. just make a loop. Then I just put the other end through the loop and that's it. The only tricky part is squeezing the end of the loop so it goes through the small hole, but if you hold it close to the end to minimize the loop it goes through with no problem. After reading the reviews, I tried again with the second lid and it was just as easy as the first time. Do this in bright light so you can see it coming out the other end of the hole when you push it through. You just have to let it go far enough to grab it with the needle. The only thing I don't like, and that's why I've never been that crazy about leash holders, is that the canopy dangles at the end of the rope when you're on the move. I forgot about that until I started using the camera with the camera attached so I'll probably never use it and just have to remember to use the cap holder I have on the strap. But that's three packs, so at least I have spares. :) Overall I am happy with the purchase and will buy again, after inevitably losing those three.
