Review on Pentax 16 85Mm Lens KAF Cameras by Stanislaw Grzechnik ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, I advise you to try it.

I bought it and immediately on an autumn cruise along the Volga (several frames, including full-size ones, are available here and beyond). In general, it lived up to expectations, some softness of the picture at 85 mm is caused, perhaps, by a too long shutter speed for the 127 mm EGF at 16 megapixels cropped K-30 (the weather was cloudy. It was often frankly dark), or you need to carefully monitor the focus point. 48,000 for such a lens is perhaps a bit too much, even in our troubled times and euro exchange rates (I think the price of 38-40 thousand would be reasonable, taking into account dust and moisture protection and, in general, a good picture). I put 4, although 4.5 would be morecomrrect

Pros
  • 1. (and most importantly) a convenient range of focal lengths. 2. very sharp up to 60 mm at least, further - see comments. 3. dust and moisture protection 4. confident fast focusing on the K-30 5. Vignetting is minimal or almost non-existent 6. small for such focal chromatic aberrations
Cons
  • 1. soft at 85 mm (as well as Nikon's counterpart), but . (see comments) 2. big and quite heavy 3. price.
