I bought this after finding out that my Supermicro X9DRi-F doesn't support fanout on PCIe slots, even though there is a setting in BIOS to do so. Only 1 or 2 models of this series use the same bios. I found this card after some searching. The ASMedia ASM2824 chipset on the card provides the system with two M.2 NVMe SSDs in one PCIe slot instead of using two slots. There's a slight performance hit, but I suspect it won't be noticeable in the real world. When I ran some test tools, I saw a slight drop in write speeds when accessing both M.2 SSDs at the same time instead of one. It has no effect on the reading speed. I'm using this in a non-raid build and as another reviewer mentioned it works in Freenas. I recommend it to anyone who is limited by PCIe slots and wants to add two M.2 NVMe SSDs to an x8 slot.
