The number of car thefts is increasing due to a simple method of breaking/erasing car key fobs. You no longer need to break windows and disassemble the steering column to lock up and steal the car. Like so many other life cycles, we go back to the early 90's when many people used anti-theft devices to lock their steering wheel. But it was effective and still is.
