Is it suitable for bedding

I have never slept on it or used food or liquids on it to see how it holds up on my guest room bed. I bought it for what the description says but he has just bought new mattresses and just wants them to stay as clean as possible. It covers well and should not come off while sleeping or lying in bed. The time will show.
