First we got a GPS tracker to track our special needs son in case he went missing. We clip it to his bag when he goes to school, when we go out on weekends, when we go out of town, or when we go on vacation. Our biggest fear is that one day he will be missing and will not be able to tell anyone who he is, where he lives, what his home number is, etc. With this device and this phone app, we have a piece of information. Keep in mind that if it's ever lost, we might be able to find it. We like to know where we are going alone for our other child who has no special needs just in case. We used to have another GPS tracking device that we have been using for a number of years but these old GPS tracking devices ran on the G2 network which is being phased out. Over the past few years, we've seen many of the features of this other GPS tracker disappear. The thought of not being able to track our son was heartbreaking for us and finding a replacement GPS tracker was difficult as they all used a 2G network. We finally found this Tracki device and according to the specs it works on a 3G network. I was so excited when we found this that I immediately ordered a set. I have to say I was skeptical at first as it looked like such a new product (we ordered ours in August and any reviews we could find anywhere were only a couple of months old) but we decided not to buy anything if we weren't happy we could cancel the service. I have to say that this device and the company have far exceeded my expectations and my experience with other devices. The price of the device is absolutely reasonable. Great plans. For the moment that we tried it we went with the monthly plan, but eventually we will switch to one of their yearly plans which will save us money. The app is still relatively new. It was released in March 2019 and is version 2.3. I can say that it has improved a lot and they keep making improvements and releasing updates. The app will receive a notification for each of the triggers you set up (e.g. entering or exiting a zone you defined). If you want other people to be notified of activity, they don't have to have the app. You can set the app to send text messages to specific mobile phone numbers, and you can also set it to send emails to specific email addresses. email address. It shows you the remaining battery life of the device and you can set it to notify you when the device reaches the battery percentage so you know it's time to charge the battery. The battery life is excellent, we drive several days without charging. You can set the location to update every 1, 2, 5, 10, 30 minutes or even 1, 2 or 4 hours. The app even lets you "ping" the device to make it beep. We used this option a few times when the kids didn't remember exactly where in the house they put their device. This is a great feature! This also allows you to view the device's movement history, which can come in handy at some point when someone goes missing. The device also has some nice features. It has a power button that allows you to turn off the device at night. Others don't. We turn them off when the kids get home, which saves the test's life. It has 3 buttons, one of which is an SOS button. When your child is in trouble, they will notify the app on the phone and let you know that the SOS button has been pressed. It also has 2 more buttons that you can use for anything you want to be notified about. It comes with a clip that can be attached so the child can attach it to their pants. It has a small loop to which you can attach a key ring. We attached a small zip tie with a safety pin so we could pin it to our sons pockets to make removal difficult. You may see comments stating that the device is not accurate. I will say based on experience of testing multiple GPS tracking devices that they are all like this. It may not update as soon as you look at the app, but it will update, just give it time. I called support twice for help with two different issues and they were VERY responsive and VERY helpful.
