The backpack is quiet and looks pretty sturdy. I wasn't expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The canvas didn't smell at all, it's from a man who has such a keen sense of smell that I can spot wounded animals by the smell of blood, skin, guts or glands. I washed it anyway for quiet hunting on dry days. People complain about clasps, leave them closed and use buckles. The cinch on top keeps your shit from falling out anyway. -John Added: The smell came up while it was still wet, it's skin that has an eel/sea smell that goes away when it dries. I don't mind as I cut off the straps anyway and attached a paracord cord for the flap. I use it for close hunting on dry days when extra rest is needed.
