After purchasing the Tempur-Pedic mattress we needed a new mattress pad. With Tempur-Pedic, the mattress topper needs to be breathable, so traditional polyester batting pads won't work. Pads sold through Tempur-Pedic are $70 to $80. This mattress topper is great value for money and is perfect for a Tempur-pedic (right angle) mattress. The sides are long enough to be tucked under the mattress. I washed it before putting it on the mattress and it washes and dries beautifully. I was a little bothered by the rustling that other reviewers have mentioned, but we didn't feel it. I wonder if this cover could be designed for Tempur-Pedic mattresses because it was perfect. Another reviewer complained that it wasn't waterproof. The back is plastic, I spilled water on it and it didn't get wet. However, I don't know if it would be waterproof enough for a major accident that isn't immediately wiped off with a towel. However, most adults do not need a sturdy plastic lid.
