This ice machine makes small hexagonal ice cubes. When I received them they had no strange smell and the cubes had no strange taste. Every customer should be aware that the lids of the ice cube trays are attached to each other. You just have to spread them apart and you have two tray covers. I don't know why they did it that way and there are no instructions or any tabs to indicate that these are really two lids and not one poorly designed lid. I had two main problems with these forms. First you have to remove the ice cubes one by one. These aren't plastic trays that you can bend and crack ice cubes in at the same time. You can bend them, but I couldn't get any of the cubes out of the silicone mold. The second problem is that they are pure silicone molds. Therefore, they bend fairly easily. I've found that even with the lid closed, it's difficult to get back into the freezer without spilling water. The lid does not snap onto the tray. It just doesn't close the compartment tightly. In addition, cubic shapes extend the length of the lid. There is no small gap like plastic trays for water to drain into less crowded areas. Overall, this achieves its goal of making cubes that are tasteless and odorless, like what's in your freezer. The dice are small, probably half the size of a normal plastic tray dice.
