Review on Brushed Nickel Moen DN4408BN Pivoting Toilet Paper Holder by Anthony Lopez

Not exactly what I expected

Having read many very positive reviews about this holder I have to say I am a bit disappointed. In another bathroom I installed a Moen Kingsley mount and really liked it. However, this holder was 30% cheaper and I found the design attractive enough that I ordered this holder and wondered how different it could be? Well it is different and definitely a lower quality product. I eventually found that most of the time when a manufacturer offers two different but similar models at very different prices, the more expensive one is usually easier to install and offers a better fit. Of course it is like that here. This model installs with a very small set screw, but what's worse is that it installs directly against a wall, meaning you can only rotate it 180 degrees (half a turn) and then remove the hex key and re-align with a tiny screw and turn it another half turn and then over and over again. On the Kingsley model, the set screw is far enough from the wall to allow the hex wrench to be fully rotated without removing it. In my opinion the complexity of the installation is worth the extra $15 for the Kingsley. Installation aside, however, the Kingsley is definitely a more substantial product. If Vale has plastic parts, then Kingsley has all metal parts. The Kingsley looks a lot more solid (especially the matching towel ring). is it good enough Yes it works. But if you ask my opinion, spend the extra money on a Kingsley model. I would like to have.
