Great kettle so far (one day) - I will update the review if the kettle fails prematurely. It produces a strong hot cup of coffee which is what I need. My first coffee attempt was very weak. At attempt number two I got good strong coffee; You need to keep the temperature high enough to keep the pan "peppering". I suppose if the basket is full then you might have too high a temperature. If you get weak coffee, try increasing the heat a bit. I love that I now have some control over how strong my coffee will be. The quality of the coffee pot is acceptable. I think a base basket could be better. A small amount of thicker goes into a saucepan. It's okay, but if the basket had a mesh lining then even finely ground grains wouldn't end up in the coffee. A paper filter also solves this problem. I saw in a review that the grip loosened them up. If you are good with tools there is a plug where the plastic handle screws into the pan so you can access and tighten that screw if needed. So don't be put off.
