Review on 🎧 Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones - (No Longer Available) by Dave Mosby

Unprovoked failure of the headband carrier material (plastic)!

As an aviation professional I have worn BOSE MIL aircraft noise canceling headsets for years and I expected the same quality when I decided to purchase a Quiet Comfort 15 acoustic noise canceling headphone. BOSE works very well. However, when I put them on last night to listen to some long-awaited renditions of Yuja Wang's Rachmaninoff, the right headphone bracket simply snapped and detached (the plastic material broke). The tear is totally irreparable (i.e. it's not just a matter of re-gluing a broken earpiece mount) due to the tensile force the earpiece is subjected to. This type of material failure from BOSE is simply unacceptable given the high cost of a pair of headphones (I paid $300 for them when they were new) and I am extremely unhappy with this unexpected failure of the (plastic) material used. for the production of headband supports. It's clear that metal would be a smarter and much more durable choice than plastic for the all-important supporting structure of the headband. Although the Quiet Comfort 15 is currently being discontinued by BOSE, I would advise all potential buyers of the device (which is still available from Revain and other retailers) to take that into account when considering purchasing this model. Given the widespread reputation that BOSE claims for its products (along with their high cost), this case does not support those claims.
