Revainrating 5 out of 5

Argan Oil Comparative Rating: Premium Natural, Kate Blanc, Cliganic, Acure

Due to the many complaints in Revain reviews about the quality of different argan oils, I decided the only way to know which brand to buy was to test the top rated brands - Premium Natural, Kate Blanc, Cliganic and Acure (photo of one). To do this, I poured about a tablespoon of each product onto a white ceramic plate and placed the plates in a well-lit (for color assessment) well-lit area. - ventilated room (without extraneous smells) (photo 2). All four products were judged on color (should be visibly yellow), flavor (should have a distinct nutty flavor), and freshness (no rancid flavor) as the categories for which there were the most complaints in the reviews. Please note that these were qualitative reviews, not quantitative - I did not use any special measuring devices and did not take them to the lab for chemical analysis. My wife did the initial assessment. She has worked with essential oils for many years and blends her own carrier oil and concentrated essential oil products - her familiarity with oils served her well when assessing freshness. She also has a keen sense of smell (which I don't have). She also doesn't use argan oil that often, probably only 2-3 times a year, so has no favorites and is not at all familiar with well-known brands. The three ratings were as follows: Color: Each sample was rated on a scale of 1 (no color) to 10 (highly visible yellow) when examined under bright, balanced white light (2 LED lights extending approximately 4 ft above the samples and spaced about 6 feet per line). above and parallel to the samples). Flavor: each sample was rated on a scale of 1 (no perceptible odor) to 10 (slightly perceptible, distinctly nutty odor); My wife cleaned her sense of smell after each sample by inhaling the aroma of freshly ground coffee (a method used to judge wine bouquets, she says). Freshness: Each sample was rated as fresh or rancid without using a scale. (so just a binary guess) by tasting a small amount of oil from a fingertip (using different fingers for each oil and cleaning the palate with lemon water between samples). The samples were not labeled so my wife did not know which sample was which brand. I also didn't tell her which four brands I was testing, so as not to have any expectations of her. Here are the results: Color: Premium Natural (Photo 3) - 6Kate Blanc (Photo 4) - 10Cliganic (Photo 5) - 2Acure (Photo 6) - 1 (parallel comparison in Photo 7) Scent: Premium Natural - 6Kate Blanc - 10Cliganic - 1Acure - 2Freshness:Premium Natural - FreshKate Blanc - FreshCliganic - FreshAcure - FreshSummary: Kate Blanc was an easy winner, although Premium Natural took a reasonable second place. My wife's comment on the Cliganic and Acure products was that they were probably so heavily diluted with a carrier oil that both products contained minimal argan oil at best. Let me reiterate that these results reflect the quality of my wife. reviews (although I agree with her on the color ratings) and should not be taken as scientific evidence of the quality of any of the four products tested.
