Update: After 9 hours of using this stool there were a few things in the design that needed to be checked. if you sit horizontally on this stool, the load goes to the middle of the stool and the top can fold inwards. it shouldn't, but it is. The other thing is that if you sit down and then shift your weight, the side hinges can fall apart, causing some destruction to the stool. The hinge is easy to reattach, but if you don't do anything to prevent the folding sides from folding in, your chair will collapse inward. Your repairs will be your own, but once the repairs are made or applied this chair is very sturdy and can still be folded. It just takes a little more effort to set it up. We have supplied some short detachable plastic tubes to cover the flaps and prevent the boards from folding inwards. We use a small, thin wooden top as a top, which is cut to size and screwed to one side of the convertible top. It sits on the stool and folds up when you fold the stool. Now that the stool is installed this way, it works very well and is very durable. but it took a little patience and time to fix everything.
