Ready to use! My only comment is if you're using this to weigh large envelopes, you need to put a cup or something on top of it, then zero and place the envelope on top of the cup. Because the display faces up, larger objects will obscure the display. It's about the size of the palm of my hand, so it's just a nice little scale. So far this has been very accurate and has worked great in delivering the packages I need to send. Overall I love this item and it saved me a ton of money on postage!
