I've only been using this a few months ago but while my corals are thriving under this light I have a flashlight, some mushrooms and some palia and they are all overgrown and growing. I have a flashlight directly under the light about four inches from the surface and the light is about 5-6 inches from the water surface so I keep it close. The mushroom didn't like being right underneath so I put it aside and it's fine. A month later, others appeared on it. My games are further away from the light and have grown a few more heads, starting at 10, now I have 14. I would recommend the light for small nano aquariums, no more than 20 gallons anyway. I can only switch to 24W because I want to try other corals but honestly I was surprised by these lights. I had other parking lights, if you are interested ;-). Oh, in photos the light always shows a much bluer color than it really is. Blue but not too much.
