This blanket is really good at catching the trash that furry babies throw out. For the most part, once the mat is on the mat, the boots CANNOT pick it up. The dense mesh fibers hold dirt very well and perform as advertised. Cleaning: DO NOT expect the vacuum to pick up 100% of the dirt that falls on this mat. It just won't happen. If anyone wants to remove all residue from this rug, they must roll it in half, take it outside and hang it so it doesn't get lost, or spray it with a continuous garden hose. In fact, it's NOT that difficult to clean, so don't overdo it. Other people who bought this may have other options for dealing with the trapped debris. So if you are looking for a mat that will pick up dirt that you don't want on carpet or hardwood/tile floors then I recommend this mat.
