This is where I should have listened to one star reviews. I have read the instructions. I plugged the HDMI cable and power cord into their respective outlets. After pressing the power button and wondering if the unit was on (no light or other indication), I pressed the open/close button (the tray opened), inserted the DVD, and closed the tray. After about a minute, the "Loading" sign appeared on the screen. I waited (and waited) for quite a while for the movie to start and finally decided to hit play thinking that this might be the answer to being able to see the movie. Finally the movie started. Yes! About five minutes passed and the film stopped playing. Now if you re-read everything I've written so far, you'll know how I spent almost the next half hour before I repackaged this item and requested a refund.
