Didn't know what to expect but it has a nice heavy and large base so cats have to stand on it and prevents it from tipping over. Recently adopted 2 year old cats after my others died many years ago. These two are "fully armed" and wanted to make sure they didn't rip apart my furniture since their front claws weren't removed. It took me a whole day to teach them how to use it (yes you can train cats!). Just grab a treat and bring it to him and he will instinctively start scratching and getting the treat. Now when they see me they think they'll get a treat if they grab it with their claws (positive reinforcement) and they usually do: - My tabby kitten can reach the top by about 3ft so it's big , and my smaller Maine Coon uses it all the time too.
