These pants are really tough and were water proof when sitting in snow. I used them to hunt big game in the mountains. The fabric is a little noisy when walking not bad but when trying to be quiet they can be a little "swishy" sounding. The other issue was that they were comfortably warm but when working hard going up hill I would sweat and they are not breathable enough. At the end of the day the insides were wet and uncomfortable. The tent stove was not always warm enough to sufficiently dry them before the next day which was a bummer.
