So overall it's a pretty great filtration system and that's about all I have to say. I'm pretty sure it matters how short your hoses are. from the actual top of the tank as shown in the manual but mine is at the maximum distance from the top of the tank and I was able to purge almost all of the air from the system but it took about half an hour. up to 45 minutes to fully operate the system at maximum performance. Which doesn't really matter, it's just taken a lot of time to get to this point. So I thought it might be helpful for others who might want one to see some actual images from one of these container filters. I know myself that I would personally like to see some more photos of one of them. So you can see your filter media on one side where the water inlet is and in the middle where it actually sucks in your clean water and returns it to the tank and on the other side it's basically your biozone, around your good ones to breed bacteria. Below the middle filter is about an inch and a half, maybe two inches from the top so you can place activated carbon or zeolite to purify the water and improve it for your fish. Now I've come across one thing others have been talking about, the hose fittings and how not to attach them with the little blue caps. And I've looked into these compression fittings before, but they're not designed for this installation. If you look into the two I have side by side I have a head on the other side and there is very little difference between them. But either way, that doesn't allow it to work the way it's supposed to, so unfortunately after putting them on I still had to put the zip ties on the ends to prevent leakage. The exit side is the most prone to leaks. So make sure you have hose clamps on that side, especially on a filter this size and possibly larger. But other than that minor issue, everything looks pretty decent in general. I watched the actual filter unit for about 2 hours to make sure there were no leaks and then checked again for 4 hours after running continuously. I also tested it again 8 hours later and everything is running smoothly. So overall it's not such a bad product and it seems to be doing a pretty good job of filtering your aquarium. And like I said, I've stretched the hoses to the maximum recommended length and that's just because of where I store the filter box. I really doubt anyone has a small table right behind the aquarium to sit on. As for other recommendations, I would definitely check out the extra 10 feet of tubing if you want to run this setup to its maximum length. Because the included hose is not long enough to do both sides. 10 feet is overkill, but it gives you a bit of wiggle room to set everything up and then you can trim off the excess. I hope this helps anyone looking to buy this 200 series or even the 300 series.
