The two best features of this duo compared to other manufacturers: 1) cubic silicone tray with lid that significantly prevents odor absorption and sublimation ice when it is after ice making kept in the freezer. While I usually advocate using large ice cubes at a steady pace (:-) ), I've definitely had instances where a week or more went by before I pulled the next ice cube. So many cocktail options, so little time. 2) Ball molds being made entirely of silicone have the flexibility that the ball can be pulled out without having to run warm water over the mold to loosen the ice. This is a big improvement over some other manufacturers who use a stiffer plastic container base that you can't flex enough to squeeze the ice out without heating it with water. No water leaks out of the seam when filling, so this is excellent material engineering, at least initially. If you fill them a little less than full through the fill hole you won't have an icy expression out of the mold as the water will freeze and expand slightly. Because the product is silicone, it will eventually absorb "freezer burn". or smelling "old ice cream" if you're not too picky. But for cost reasons it is not a problem to replace the material every few years. Overall, this is a well-designed set of products that is easy to use and delivers excellent results.
