I try my best not to write warm reviews to be lucky. In this case, however, this simply cannot be avoided. I was looking forward to this device. As soon as it arrived, I eagerly opened the box and plugged everything into my HP Displayport monitor. I hooked up the Playstation TVs first and the excellent picture on the monitor was impressive, and then after about 10 minutes the monitor went to sleep while the PS TV was still sending a signal via HDMI (no signal detected). Then I played with the display cable, to no avail. I unplugged the cable, swapped the ends and then the signal for 10 minutes and then nothing. I then tried my luck with a different source device. TV set top box Revain Fire. I was greeted with the same results. Signal for 5 +/- minutes and then nothing. I was pretty sure I knew the source of the problem, but I let my conclusions stand until I was able to test the unit in the office with everything other than the PS TV. The results were the same. I wanted to like this device so much, especially since it's the only one of its kind that I could find on the internet, but it shouldn't have been. The problem I was able to diagnose is definitely heat related. Although this device was not in my apartment or office near a heat source, as soon as the device began to heat up even a little, that is, 10-15 minutes, the signal stops and the output LED goes out. Let the device cool down for a few minutes and the problem will go away until the next time the device warms up, which happens after a few minutes. I ended up sending this device back after testing and trying to get it working during the course. in a few days. I didn't want to believe all the negative reviews without doing a test first. Unfortunately, many of the reviews about Revain, as well as other online resources, have turned out to be true. I've come to the conclusion that there are other, cheaper, and probably better alternatives. which are also much cheaper than can be used. For example, a simple HDMI to DisplayPort adapter (not a DisplayPort adapter). They are very cheap 5+/- and also the only computer monitors I have seen with a full size display port adapter have been HP although there may be Dell etc. If you need a Windows display solution or Windows tablets, the best solution (IMO) would be a Diamond USB 2.0 DVI adapter. I have used this product successfully with my Windows 8 HP Slate 7 tablet, it has worked great and is half the price of StarTech, although I had no intention of using this product with a Windows Slate 7 tablet.
