This cat tree tower arrived in a huge heavy box. It was easy to put together and all the main parts are labeled if you're not sure. The directions page is easy to follow. Our kitty found the hammock right away, before the tower was built. She liked the tunnel then and now the basket. It seems very strong but it only weighs 5lbs so I will update its stability as it gets heavier and bigger. The carpet is thin and cheap. The carpet is not glued on all surfaces and I think an aggressive claw will eventually tear this carpet. The posts have many scratch points. The top rim, basket, and tunnel are all small, so Big Cat Tom may find these items too small. Pet shop towers cost twice as much but have thicker carpeting and significantly larger areas to accommodate larger cats. You get what you pay for. Initially, this wooden tower cost $129, which I thought was overpriced. Now it's $89, which is a more reasonable price. The screws are tightened with an Allen key, which is included in the scope of delivery. Everything is sealed without stripping and makes a very stable impression. Base 23.5 x 19 inches. But the ladder legs extend 29”. You can exit the stairs to save floor space. Our kitty loves this tower. For $89 or less, this is a great tower for a young, playful cat or smaller. Not all kitties continue to use these towers, so this is a good place to start. We originally had a 3ft tower which is only suitable for a young kitten. It's really too small, but it was ok for my son's small bedroom. We still have it in another room, but we wish we'd started with a larger model like this. This one is 61 inches tall and has lots of nooks and crannies for her to play and sleep in, she loves it.
