They don't work when plugged into my powered USB hub. With my keyboard, mouse, two flash drives, and a portable hard drive plugged into the hub, the keyboard and mouse worked, but the flash drives would not mount, and neither would the small hard drive. I figured it must be the middle so I ordered another one. I connected a new hub and had the same problem. I then tried all 8 cables I bought (4 red and 4 gray) and none of them could connect drives. I tried another branded cable that I bought at the same time and mounted the drives. I then tried several other USB 3 cables I had and they all worked. I've spent a lot of time on it, so I can't recommend it
